When a home is demolished, it's not only the walls that are lost, but also safety, privacy, and the warmth of everyday life. In Gaza, thousands of families suddenly found themselves out in the open, homeless, without a bed, and sometimes without a blanket. The Tents and Shelters Project is an urgent response to a need that cannot wait. Because people cannot live without a roof to protect them or a place to shelter, especially in times of war and displacement.
Why is this project important?
• Because thousands of homes have been destroyed completely or partially, leaving their inhabitants homeless.
• Because many families sleep out in the open or in schools that are not equipped for living.
• Because existing shelters suffer from overcrowding and a lack of basic services.
• Because a child cannot grow up among rubble, and a woman cannot live without a minimum level of privacy.
What does the project provide?
• Provision of equipped tents that protect from sun, cold, and rain.
• Establishment of humane shelters containing mattresses, blankets, clean water, and sanitation facilities.
• Distribution of basic household items (mattresses, pillows, hygiene supplies, lighting).
• Psychosocial support for children and mothers inside the shelters.
Target groups
• Families who have lost their homes completely.
• Displaced people from bombed areas.
• Families living in buildings unfit for habitation.
• Older people, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women.
