Project details
A person may break their fast in Ramadan for a valid legal excuse, due to a chronic illness, or delay in making up missed fasts. Here comes the duty of fasting expiation (kaffara), which was legislated out of mercy for people and made by God a means of goodness and solidarity: “And for those who can do it a ransom: feeding a poor person…” [Al-Baqarah: 184] The Fasting Expiation Project enables you to perform this duty correctly and effectively by converting your expiation into cooked meals or food baskets delivered directly to those in urgent need in Gaza. What is fasting expiation? • Feeding a poor person for each day one broke the fast without an acceptable excuse or did not make it up in its time. • Or on behalf of someone who cannot fast at all due to a permanent illness or old age. • The feeding is provided either as a cooked meal or as food items equivalent to a filling meal. How do we implement the fasting expiation? • We prepare cooked meals or simple baskets of basic food staples. • We distribute them to poor families, orphans, the elderly, and the sick in Gaza. • We ensure the expiation reaches its rightful recipients with confidentiality and dignity, within an appropriate timeframe and with clear documentation. Why give your expiation through us? • Because you are assured the expiation is spent correctly and fulfills its religious purpose. • Because at the same time you help feed a hungry person and address a real need in an extremely poor environment. • Because today in Gaza there are people who cannot find even one meal a day, and your expiation may be that meal. Your expiation is not a burden… but an opportunity for mercy. Pay your fasting expiation, and be the reason someone without daily sustenance gets a meal. Your expiation… obedience, charity, and a lasting good impact.
